What Is Sculptra^®?

Sculptra® is an innovative facial filler that restores the natural volume in the face that we lose as we age. How Are Sculptra^® Injections Performed?

Through a series of injections, Sculptra® is injected into targeted areas such as the temple, cheeks, chin, and the jawline to increase the volume of those areas. The treated areas are thoroughly massaged to evenly distribute the product around the area.

Each series of injections takes about 15 to 30 minutes to administer depending on the extent of the area to be treated. Additionally, to minimize any discomfort, injections sites are numbed with a local anesthetic. Immediately following each treatment, an ice pack is applied to the treated area to minimize swelling.

Although Sculptra® does not correct the cause of facial fat loss or diminish wrinkles, it helps improve the appearance of the skin by increasing its thickness in the treated area. With Sculptra®, most patients require three to six treatments spaced about one month apart to ensure the full benefits.

Preparing for Sculptra^® Injections

For the most part, preparing for Sculptra injections takes very little time. It is important to do the following to help diminish and prevent redness and bruising at the injection sites:

• Stop smoking
• Stop taking aspirin and non-steroidal medicines such as ibuprofen along with vitamins and supplements
• Avoid tanning beds and other skin treatments such as waxing

Recovery from Sculptra^® Injections

There is no recovery period with Sculptra® for most patients, which allows them to return to their normal activities immediately following the treatments. Some may experience slight redness at the injection sites which diminishes within a few hours. In the first few days following each treatment, it is important to massage the treated area to make sure the product is evenly distributed.

How Much Does Sculptra® Cost?

The cost of Sculptra® varies with each patient and depends on the extent of the area to be treated as well as the number of treatments necessary to produce the desired results.
