How Is a Labiaplasty Performed?

Absorbable stitches are used which the body naturally absorbs in time, requiring no suture removal.
The procedure takes about two hours and is followed by another hour in recovery. Once complete, the results are permanent but may become stretched again as a result of pregnancy, childbirth, and sexual activity.
Preparation for Labiaplasty
Prior to your labiaplasty, Dr. Taylor will review your case and evaluate your issue. Additionally, because the procedure is considered surgery, you may be asked to have the following completed:
- Blood work
- Overall health check-up
- Cessation of smoking two weeks prior to the procedure
- Interruption of certain current medications prescribed on a daily basis
- Break from certain over the counter medications, vitamins, and supplements at least two weeks prior to the procedure
Recovery from Labiaplasty
Antibiotic cream is applied, and post-op care involves keeping the area clean and reapplying antibiotic cream to prevent infection. There is relatively little downtime, with most patients experiencing only mild swelling and little to no discomfort. Patients return to work in a few days and may resume sexual activity in six weeks. Complications with labiaplasty are rare but can include bleeding, infection, poor healing, and labial asymmetry.
