What Is Transfeminine Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation (transfeminine breast augmentation) is a surgical procedure for transgender women or non-binary people that enables the patient to achieve a more feminine figure by increasing the size of the breasts. It involves the use of breast implants to increase the fullness and the prominence of the breasts, helping patients feel more comfortable with their body.
Benefits of Transfeminine Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation allows individuals to achieve a more feminine appearance, as well as offers the following benefits:
- Align your physique with your internal sense of self
- Enhance self-esteem and body confidence
- Improve appearance
How Does Transfeminine Breast Augmentation Work?
Breast augmentation is performed using breast implants, just like traditional breast augmentation procedures. Breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures, and Dr. Taylor has extensive experience and success performing these treatments. The treatment works by simply inserting breast implants into the chest, creating natural-looking results. Typically, the skin on the chest stretches naturally to cover the size of the implants to contribute to a natural and comfortable result.
Patient Reviews
“Laura was fantastic – definitely 5 stars all the way
I was pretty down coming into the office as I had a fairly small but very prominent scar on my face from a combination of a freak accident a month earlier and the ER Dr. completing mishandling my wounds
I was at the point where I was seriously considering invasive scar revision surgery.”

How is Transfeminine Breast Augmentation Performed?
The procedure for breast augmentation is performed similarly to traditional breast augmentation procedures. This treatment is performed under general anesthesia to ensure the safety and comfort of the patient and takes approximately 2 hours to complete.
First, incisions will be made through which the implants are inserted. During your consultation with Dr. Taylor, he will determine the best incision location for you depending on your treatment goals, body type and preference. There are three possible incision locations that may be utilized. The most common is the inframammary incision, which is made in the crease on the underside of the chest. This option is popular because the scars are well hidden underneath the breasts. Another common incision is the periareolar incision, which is made around the nipple area. The third and least common type of incision is in the armpit.
After the incisions are made, your chosen implants are inserted behind the breast tissue. These implants are made of silicone and filled with a sterile saline solution. After your implants are inserted, the incisions will be stitched closed. You will be able to go home the same day of your appointment, but we ask that patients have someone waiting to drive them home.
Preparing for Transfeminine Breast Augmentation
The most important step in preparing for your breast augmentation procedure is choosing the shape and size of your implants. Dr. Taylor can help guide you through this process to ensure that you achieve the results you desire. Afterwards, we may request the following to help you prepare for surgery:
- Blood work
- Overall health check-up
- No smoking for a couple of weeks prior to the procedure
- No taking aspirin or any other blood thinning medication, vitamin, or supplement
Recovery from Transfeminine Breast Augmentation
You will notice results from your breast augmentation immediately, although your breasts may feel tight as the skin adjusts to the implants. After your procedure, you will wear a support bra to help support the breasts. Patients typically experience some degree of swelling and soreness after their surgery, which can last a few weeks. After this time, your implants will become more comfortable and your incision lines will fade, becoming less noticeable. We can prescribe antibiotics and oral pain medications to help minimize any discomfort that patients may encounter during their recovery. Many patients find that they are able to return to work and other activities within a few days of surgery; however, strenuous activities should be avoided for several weeks after your procedure.
